Designing structured, accessible, repeatable online learning experiences - turning complex academic content into clear Moodle-based activities for postgraduate students.

Learning Design Moodle Accessibility

Reusable Moodle Learning Design System

  • 12+ online MSc modules built with consistent instructional patterns (context → guided note-taking → peer interaction)
  • WCAG 2.2 AA applied throughout; reusable templates for Books, Pages, Forums, Databases and linked activity sequences
  • 100% of students understood content purpose; 96.7% agreed format was suitable (36 responses, Term 1 2025-26)

Outcome: Reusable patterns cut build time and make modules maintainable by others, not one-off bespoke builds.

Module Development Moodle Policy Education

UCL STEaPP Module Development

  • Produced weekly context videos and expert interview series for STEP0024; co-led weekly working sessions with two subject matter experts from planning to go-live
  • Complex contested topics (science communication, misinformation, policy) structured for analysis, not just comprehension
  • 90.9% of students found examples diverse and relevant (36 responses, Term 1 2025-26)

Outcome: Complex academic content made workable for fully independent online study.

Programme Development Online MSc UCL

UCL STEaPP Online MSc

  • 12 modules transitioned from face-to-face to fully asynchronous for the September 2025 launch
  • ~40 enrolled against a target of 20; no withdrawals recorded in the first monitored cohort (2025-26)
  • Co-authored "Orchestrating Engagement" conference paper with Dr Maria Cross, presented at CODE/RIDE, University of London, March 2026

Outcome: Doubled its enrolment target with zero dropouts - significant evidence of the programme design's effectiveness.

Practical, responsible AI adoption in educational and professional contexts - including an AI-assisted accessibility workflow and staff development workshops.

UCL AI Accessibility Agent

  • Built within standard M365 Copilot (no premium Copilot Studio licence); navigated tenant approval, user permissions, authentication and knowledge sources
  • Developed WITH UCL's Digital Accessibility team; launched jointly at the UCL Teaching and Learning Forum
  • Human review built into the workflow by design; supports WCAG 2.2 AA compliance under the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations

Outcome: Live and deployed org-wide at UCL - shifts accessibility from retrospective audit to point-of-authoring support.

  • Covers practical Copilot demonstrations, prompting framework (Goal + Context + Expectations + Source) and responsible AI principles

Outcome: Ongoing into 2026; participants consistently move from uncertainty to practical AI confidence.

Copilot Studio - Support and Governance

  • Diagnosed a complex Copilot Studio access issue involving guest users, Dataverse, environment roles, authentication and published channels
  • Moved a test agent from the default environment into a dedicated sandbox using Power Platform solution export/import
  • Identified a practical Demo Website route for external prototype testing, with clear warnings about link-based access

Outcome: Turned a confusing access problem into a clear governance recommendation - move development out of the default environment, use a controlled testing route for feedback, and treat external editing or ownership as a separate licensing and tenant question.

Building reporting pipelines, dashboards and automation workflows - from learner engagement monitoring to training management system implementation.

  • Sole technical lead on full system build: 9+ Dataverse tables, PowerShell/Selenium scraping pipeline, model-driven Power App admin interface, Power BI dashboard
  • UCL IT-approved approach - direct Moodle API access restricted to central IT; architecture: Moodle → PowerShell → Dataverse → Power BI
  • Scrape run 20-30 minutes; refreshable stakeholder-facing dashboard accessible without Moodle access

Outcome: Programme teams replaced a fragmented manual process with a structured, refreshable monitoring system.

IKON Training: Digital Transformation

  • Sole internal technical lead; no external developers; requirements to live in 6 months (Oct 2022 → Apr 2023)
  • Full delegate lifecycle automated: booking → pre-course comms → Moodle provisioning on attendance → SurveyMonkey feedback → commissioner reports
  • Migrated all flows from Zapier (one-month timeout limit tracked and documented) to Power Automate before handover

Outcome: "I no longer have to forward emails to each of our delegates." - Client Commissioner, April 2024

  • Mallard (self-initiated, Feb 2026): custom Boost child theme + accordion filter plugin; published on GitHub

Outcome: Three distinct Moodle contexts demonstrating the full range from commercial LMS build to self-initiated theme and plugin development.
