AI Efficiency & Ethics Workshop - UCL

Getting the most from UCL Copilot

A practical, participatory workshop designed for academic and professional staff exploring how AI tools can reduce repetitive workload and improve day-to-day professional efficiency - while engaging honestly with the ethical, legal and academic integrity dimensions of AI use.

The session covers: what Copilot is and how it differs from other AI tools; practical demonstrations across three use-case scenarios (Enhanced Search, Drafting a Response, Data Analysis & Presentation); a prompting framework (Goal + Context + Expectations + Source); responsible AI principles; and a structured feedback and discussion close.

Delivery record at UCL (January 2025 – present):
  1. January 2025 - UCL STEaPP Department, initial delivery to department staff
  2. UCL STEaPP Faculty - extended to faculty-wide audience
  3. UCL Teaching and Learning Forum - institution-wide forum
  4. UCL Teaching Administrators Conference - professional services staff across UCL
  5. UCL Department of Primary Care & Population Health Away Day - invited keynote session
  6. UCL Teaching Administrators Conference - re-invited for second delivery

The series is ongoing - further deliveries scheduled into 2026.

Orchestrating Engagement: An Inclusive Model for High-Growth Online Policy Education

CODE / RIDE Annual Conference, University of London, March 2026
Conference Presentation

A conference poster and presentation exploring how to build a fully online, asynchronous, globally scalable postgraduate distance-learning programme. The work examined how to track engagement, support attendance and participation, foster community, and help learners build networks across distributed cohorts.

The presentation explored the STEaPP Online MSc - a globally distributed, fully asynchronous programme delivered via Moodle. The research addressed three design challenges: engagement without synchronous contact, integrity through intentional design, and participation across distributed asynchronous pathways.

The model was built around: a consistent weekly learning rhythm, structured asynchronous activities and peer interaction, and scenario-based prompts with clear stimulus–response tasks.

Co-author: Dr Maria Cross (Lecturer and Professional Education Coordinator, UCL STEaPP).

Poster Presentation - Immersive Learning and 360° Scenarios

Co-presented a poster at the Advance HE Annual Conference (June 2022) with Dr Bonacaro and Prof. Green, on the use of immersive learning experiences - including 360° scenario-based environments built with A-Frame - in professional training and higher education. The presentation covered design principles, accessibility considerations and practical approaches to building VR/360 content without specialist equipment.

The Advance HE presenter badge and related evidence are included in the CMALT Specialist Areas section.

ESPE Lille Nord de France - International Invited Talks

Learning Technology and Digital Education Practice · Spring 2015 – Spring 2018

Delivered invited talks to student teachers and faculty at ESPE Lille Nord de France (École supérieure du professorat et de l'éducation) - at campuses in both Lille and Arras - every spring from 2015 to 2018. The sessions covered learning technology practice, digital tools in education and approaches to accessible and inclusive digital learning design. The institution was later renamed INSPÉ (Institut national supérieur du professorat et de l'éducation) in 2019. Evidence included in the CMALT Portfolio.
